Firearm
There is no substitute for a properly placed bullet and the right firearm helps you to place it where it counts. When it comes to AK big game, calibers range from a .300 win mag at a minimum to a .416 for a max. However, when it comes to covering distances from long to short while still delivery effective velocity particularly for bear and moose, it’s tough to beat the .300 Remington Ultra Mag (RUM).
The main thing is to have a firearm you are confident and comfortable with shooting and never skimp on the glass. Your best friend in the field is a high quality scope and binoculars.

Binoculars
You travel a long ways for a hunt in Alaska and you don’t want to show up with mediocre glass. You will spend a lot of time glassing and you want to make it count. Built in rangefinders in your binoculars is a Cadillac option and it’s worth it.
